The government has announced a relief package of Rs 1.67 lakh crore for the public telecommunications operator BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited). Looking at this, Mahendra Nahata, MD, HFCL said it would make BSNL a strong business venture. Nahata also spoke about the great response telecom operators gave to the 2022 5G spectrum auction. Telecom operator spending on 5G airwaves has been higher than analysts had expected.
“The overwhelming response to the 5G spectrum auction shows industry confidence in the telecom sector, its continued growth, and government policies. Our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has given transparent government to our country. Its policies of transparency and ease of doing business are aptly followed by the Ministry of Communications under the able and dynamic leadership of Honorable Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav Ji,” Nahata said.
BSNL’s relief program to make a difference
BSNL’s relief program will focus on several things, ranging from helping the state-run telecommunications company with 4G spectrum, 4G investments, restructuring debt on the books and more. BSNL will also benefit from several USOF projects, which will help the telecom operator to increase its presence in the country at a faster pace in rural areas. It will also keep the BSNL Employees Union happy for years to come. BSNL is on track to launch local 4G networks soon.
“The Rs. 1.64 lakh crore relief package for BSNL announced by the Honorable Minister of Communications will revive BSNL to become a strong business venture. A strong BSNL is vital for the country for its strategic reasons and crucial for the growth of the entire telecommunications sector of India. The current management of BSNL has a focused approach for its revival. The announced relief plan will strengthen the hands of the management of BSNL to transform it into a service provider of world-class telecommunications company that effectively competes with its peers,” added Nahata.
5G will enable a lot of things. These include Industry 4.0 use cases, smart cities, and more. The power of 5G networks will impact the entire economy for years to come. This will help create new jobs and quickly push India towards the $5 trillion economic target.
“5G will enable businesses to embark on the Industry 4.0 journey and help accelerate digital transformation in manufacturing, retail, utilities, smart cities, and more. The 5G revolution would contribute significantly to the realization of our Honorable Prime Minister’s vision of India becoming a $5 trillion economy, and it will help bridge the digital divide – thereby rendering various services such as healthcare healthcare, education, financial services, e-commerce and entertainment accessible at the bottom of the pyramid,” Nahata said.
