Business organization seeking to attract new residents to downtown Seguin

(Seguin) — Downtown Seguin is the place to be this holiday season. Whether shopping or participating in the many holiday activities planned throughout the month of December, the people of the Alliance des entreprises du centre-ville de Seguin make sure that families receive this invitation to visit the heart of town this holiday season.

That’s according to Dana Hall of the Downtown Business Alliance in Seguin. Hall says the invitation to stop in downtown Seguin is especially critical this year with all the new families moving to the area.

“We’ve been talking about all these newcomers to Seguin for a few years and it’s hard because we don’t know how to reach them. Many of the new people who move to town get out and explore downtown. Everyday they come in and say ‘oh my God, this is such a beautiful place. The park is lovely. I didn’t know it was here. I lived here for six months. It’s like “yeah, well, welcome to your new home”. That’s what we tell them, and we like it,” Hall said.

Hall says what better way to welcome new families to the community than to have them attend all the events planned for the holidays. She says attending these events is always a great way to get a sense of what the Seguin community is all about.

We encourage them to come and enjoy our holiday festivities for sure. This is one of the best parts of downtown Seguin, the Sip n’ Stroll, the North Stroll Pole and the Parade and we just appreciate their support and come to find something unique that can only be found in Seguin,” Hall said.

Hall’s comments were made during the launch this year of Shop Local’s annual holiday campaign, Shop Seguin. The campaign organized by chambers of commerce and business groups aims to encourage buyers to buy Seguin before spending those dollars elsewhere.

Hall says the campaign not only encourages people to shop locally, but also to shop at small businesses and, of course, to shop in downtown Seguin.

“So for everyone downtown, it is important that we remind people that we are here and that we support this community, our sales taxes and our donations to non-profits and that is close to our hearts. We do it because we love Seguin and we love downtown,” Hall said.

Newcomers to the sector who wish to support businesses in downtown Seguin are invited to follow the DBA Seguin on social networks.
