Leading lifestyle and automotive brand Motul has announced the appointment of John Simpson, who was recently installed as Motul Designated Distributor in Namibia.
Simpson signed the distributorship early last year as its role is to offer oil analysis and help customers understand the health of their fleet.
Simpson has launched several dealer activations as part of its strategy to persuade retailers to stock and recommend Motul’s premium engine oils and additives, according to the auto brand company. However, the partnerships with the main dealers have not yet been made public.
“Following the signing of the distribution contract and the arrival of the first stock order at the beginning of last year, John got off to a flying start. It has already recorded a series of important firsts in its efforts to make Motul products more widely known and more readily available,” reads a statement released by Motul.
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute to the expansion of Motul’s African footprint and to give Namibian motorists and heavy truck fleet owners increased access to the world’s best synthetic oils and additives,” said explained Simpson.
Prior to Simpson’s involvement, there was only a limited stock of Motul products in Namibia, and almost no retail opportunities for motorists or bikers, the company said.
“The first phase of the rollout was to identify dealers who were already familiar with the Motul brand and help them transition from using Motul oils and additives in-house to selling them,” the statement continued.
Motul’s area manager for Southern and Eastern Africa, Mercia Jansen, said that Namibia offers excellent growth opportunities for Motul, as well as the opportunity to test Motul’s products in some of the toughest terrains and conditions. difficult from Africa.
She added: “Motul has every confidence that we have found in John Simpson the ideal partner to promote the Motul brand in Namibia, and we wish him every success in his new adventure.”
Simpson and his sons compete in the local Enduro racing scene, from the Impi in South Africa to various races across Namibia.
Rising Namibian karting star Richie Slamet has been chosen as the first sponsored driver. His new kart, sporting the iconic Motul brand, was unveiled late last year at an event at Tony Rust Racecourse in the Namibian capital, Windhoek,” the company said.
Since its creation in 1853, Motul has been recognized for the quality of its products, its commitment to innovation and its involvement in competition, and is also recognized as a specialist in synthetic lubricants. In 1971, Motul was the first lubricants manufacturer to pioneer the formulation of a 100% synthetic lubricant, originating from the aeronautical industry and using ester technology: the 300V lubricant.
