Cornwall Ontario – Ontario is launching a new Ontario Business Registry on October 19, which will make it easier, simpler and cheaper for millions of businesses and not-for-profit corporations to interact with government. The new online registry will replace outdated technology, giving people across the province direct access to government services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for the first time ever.

Companies will now be able to perform over 90 transactions through the new online register, including registering a new company and dissolving an existing one. Registrations or filings that were previously submitted by mail or fax, which took four to six weeks, can now be made instantly through the online registry. Once online transactions are completed, users will receive automatic email notifications with electronic attachments instead of paper documents. The migration of annual returns that were previously filed through the Canada Revenue Agency will be available through the Ontario Business Registry, allowing businesses to keep all of their important returns in one place.

“Ontario’s businesses and non-profits have long awaited a new business registry that meets the needs of our modern economy and the growing digital world,” said Ross Romano, Minister of Government Services and Consumer services. “Our government’s new business registry will help ensure that businesses can quickly and efficiently access the services they need to reduce costs and allow them to focus their time and energy on rebuilding after the effects of the earthquake. COVID-19.

Along with the launch of Ontario’s Business Registry, the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 will come into force on October 19, providing a modern legislative framework for Ontario’s not-for-profit organizations. The legislation will significantly reduce the bureaucratic burden for nonprofits, moving from paper-based filings to digital services and providing them with increased flexibility. For the first time ever, not-for-profit corporations in Ontario will be able to access an online government system for registrations and filings, saving them time and reducing duplication of paperwork. Features such as predefined text will help users move forward error-free and reduce legal costs.

“The new system will provide a modern, streamlined digital platform that will save business owners time by reducing the need for in-person interactions and cumbersome paperwork,” said Minister Romano. “Ontario businesses and not-for-profits will have immediate access to more than 90 services, allowing them to spend more time serving our communities.
