Optiv appoints cyber vet John Trauth to lead federal trade organization

To bolster its business in the government sector, Optiv, a security solutions integrator and Top 250 MSSP, has appointed cybersecurity veteran John Trauth as chief executive officer of Optiv Federal, the company announced Sept. 23.

With more than 35 years of experience driving revenue growth and operational excellence, Trauth leads a team whose priority is “to provide federal departments and agencies with the most effective and reliable cybersecurity solutions,” said the company said in a prepared statement.

John Trauth, Managing Director, Optiv Federal

Trauth has held several leadership positions at leading technology companies, including BEA, Oracle, IBM, QMS and Tektronix, Optiv said. Most recently, he was founder and CEO of technology company Bricata Inc. Previously, he was president of information security company Cybertap Inc. He was also president of Merlin International, a federally-focused VAR and systems integrator .

Trauth outlined the path forward in his new role at Optiv Federal:

“As the threat surface continues to evolve, cybersecurity solutions remain a priority at the federal level. As a trusted partner, Optiv continues to intensify its efforts to ensure that federal agencies maintain a strong and resilient security posture, as well as to help customers prepare for upcoming federal regulations such as certification of the cybersecurity maturity model, which helps protect sensitive information from threat actors. ”

Today, as businesses experience a significant increase in the number and sophistication of cybersecurity threats, nowhere is the need to strengthen cyber defenses more critical than in the federal sector, Optiv argues. David Martin, Executive Vice President and Chief Services Officer at Optiv, noted the benefit Trauth brings to Optiv customers:

“Optiv is focused on being the market leader in the federal sector by advancing efforts to bring our technology relationships and services closer together. John’s leadership will help guide our federal team as we strike a balance between successfully delivering strategic services and driving demand for our clients.
