Vendi Advertising Certified as a Woman-Owned Business

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse’s Vendi Advertising has been certified as a Woman-Owned Business (WBE) by the Wisconsin Department of State Administration.

The state legislature implemented the WBE certification process in 2006 as part of its supplier diversity initiative, according to a press release from Vendi.

Vendi has been owned and managed by women since its founding 16 years ago. Directors Kathy Van Kirk and Julie Haas lead a team of 20 employees who serve regional and national clients in the education, healthcare, manufacturing, technology, nonprofit and other sectors.

“We are grateful that the state recognizes the contributions of women entrepreneurs and leaders in this way,” Van Kirk said. “It’s a rigorous certification process, but we applied because it’s ultimately about recognizing women-owned businesses.”

Thirty-one percent of businesses in Wisconsin are owned by women, and just over 500 have been WBE certified, according to the release. Vendi is the only WBE-certified Wisconsin company in La Crosse County.
